How I came to this

I reconstruct Quebec families from the acts the parish and the state left behind.

Handwritten page from a French Catholic baptism register.
A baptism, a parish, a date. This is the kind of page I read.

Who I am

Martin Lepage, PhD. I live in Montréal. My first tree was my own, in the Saguenay, around Jonquière.

The questions I keep

Ancient civilization. Genealogy. History. Quebec identities and politics. Religion as a culture people lived inside. I return often to the years after the Quiet Revolution, and to what Catholicism did to the population that passed through it.

What you receive

A factual lineage from genealogy databases and original records, as a GEDCOM file and a PDF. Living relatives stay off this site. I leave a blank where the file is silent.

What I need to begin

At least three generations of names and birthplaces: you, your parents, and your grandparents. I cannot start research with less.
